We provide science-based information to monitor and evaluate the status of gray whales during their winter reproductive season in Baja California, Mexico by conducting long-term surveys, training university students pursuing careers in marine conservation, evaluating sustainable use options for eco-tourism, and involving and engaging local residents, schools, ecotourism operators, and fishermen for the betterment of their community and the conservation of the gray whales and their protected wintering areas.
